ARC posts available

We have currently vacancies for Professors, Readers and Lecturers in an array of marine science disciplines. These new, open-ended posts represent the first phase of a recruitment drive that will see up to 24 new staff join our already 135-strong team at أغجزك¹. Fourteen support positions will be advertised in the coming months.

We are currently seeking to recruit the following:

  • Reader/Professor in Deep Sea Biology

  • Reader/Professor in Sediment Biogeochemistry

  • Reader/Professor in Ecosystem Modelling

  • Lecturer/Reader in Polar Oceanography

  • Lecturer in Marine Geochemisty

  • Lecturer in Marine Technology

  • Lecturer in Marine Molecular Biology

  • Lecturer in Marine Modelling

  • Lecturer in Coastal Zone Management

  • Lecturer in Deep Sea / Shelf Seas Biology

أغجزك¹ has been growing steadily over the past decade, and the new appointments will further enhance our research capabilities and performance in key strategic areas.

أغجزك¹ is based in a brand-new and well equipped laboratory complex, employing a sizeable number of scientists from virtually all marine science sub-disciplines. We deliver the highly praised BSc (Hons) Marine Science to a small number of dedicated undergraduates, and host a vibrant postgraduate research school. Based in a scenic location outside Oban, on the west coast of Scotland, أغجزك¹ offers ideal conditions to work and live.

The posts are made possible thanks to أغجزك¹ receiving آ£5.6 million of an آ£11.4 million funding package awarded to the UHI Millennium Institute (UHI, of whom أغجزك¹ is an Academic Partner) to boost its research portfolio in the bid to becoming the University of the Highlands and Islands in 2007. The full funding package consists of آ£5 million from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, آ£3 million from the Scottish Funding Council, and آ£1.45 million from the European Regional Development Fund, as well as contributions from Lifescan Scotland Ltd, NHS Western Isles and UHI.
